How to Manage Different Rankings in Nightwatch
Nightwatch provides tools to track and analyze rankings effectively by combining the Rank Column, Specific Rank Columns, and Available SERP Features for comprehensive insights.
Display separate snippet rankings in the keyword table.
Highlight the highest rank across all tracked ranking types in the Rank Column.
Identify opportunities for improvement using Available SERP Features.
Rank Column
The Rank Column consolidates data to display the highest rank across all tracked ranking types (e.g., Organic, AI Snippet, Local Pack). If you track all snippets, an icon will appear next to the rank in this column, indicating the specific snippet type.
This column helps you quickly identify top-performing rankings at a glance.
Specific Rank Columns
You can add separate columns to view individual rankings for each snippet type, such as Featured Snippet, AI Snippet, or Image Carousel.
Steps to Add Specific Rank Columns:
Go to the Manage Columns option above the keyword table.
Select the specific rank type you want to add (e.g., Featured Snippet, AI Snippet, Local Pack, etc.).
These columns allow for detailed tracking of individual ranking types, giving you a granular view of performance.
Available SERP Features
The Available SERP Features column provides detailed insights into which SERP features are present for a given keyword and where you might have opportunities to rank.
Steps to Enable "Available SERP Features":
Click the '...' icon on the header of a column in the keyword table, or use Manage Columns button
Select "Available SERP Features" to display the SERP features.
What the Colors Indicate:
Dark grey indicates that it is not available as a result,
Grey indicates that it is available as a result but not ranking,
Blue indicates that it is ranking.
By using this column, you can identify potential opportunities to target SERP features that you aren’t yet ranking for.
💡 If you don't select "Available SERP Features" or their specific columns as mentioned above, Nightwatch displays these data under the "Rank" column, where it'll display the highest rank out of the different ranks (Organic, AI Snippet, Local Pack, Image Carousel, Featured Snippet, Knowledge Panel). Customizing Rank Types in URL Settings
To refine your rank tracking further, you can specify which rank types to include in the primary "Rank" column:
Navigate to URL Settings in your Nightwatch dashboard.
Choose the rank types you want to include (e.g., Organic, AI Snippet, etc.).
This customization ensures that the "Rank" column reflects only the most relevant data for your tracking goals.
